A world where every individual has access to essential supplies and local communities are united in supporting one another.

Our vision is to become a global force for change, one community at a time.

We envision a future where 5alas not only empowers individuals but also amplifies the collective voice of Muslims worldwide. We see mosques as centers of trust, connecting people in need with generous donors and local businesses. By fostering unity, transparency, and empowerment, we aspire to create self-sustaining communities and nurture enduring relationships between mosques and local people.

How does 5alas work for people in need?

Who is eligible for collections?

Collections are available to anyone in the community facing hardship. This could include individuals who are unemployed, unable to work due to physical or mental health challenges, single-parent families, or those awaiting benefits. Some may be experiencing long-term difficulties, while others are navigating a recent crisis like sudden job loss.

Even those with part-time or zero-hour contract jobs — where income is inconsistent or insufficient — may need extra support. At 5alas, we believe no one should feel ashamed for asking for help.

How do collections work?

There’s no need to book an appointment, but those wishing to collect will need to register with 5alas to receive a User ID and Collection Order ID.

Once registered, users will receive notifications when items are available from their selected mosque. In most cases, the person receiving the support will collect their parcel themselves. However, someone else may collect on their behalf — as long as they bring the correct 5alas ID and Collection Order ID, both found in the user’s 5alas dashboard.

What kind of support is provided?

Mosques distribute parcels with essential household supplies that typically last 3–7 days. Most include staples like rice, pasta, tea, and tinned vegetables — but also items like toiletries, baby products, and hygiene essentials.

We’re also working with our community partners to expand support beyond physical goods, with services like haircuts, Arabic classes, and Qur’an lessons — to help individuals and families rebuild with dignity and hope.

Where does the food come from?

All supplies come from generous donors who give through the 5alas platform. When someone donates, they choose the items and the mosque they’d like to support. Those items are then purchased from trusted local suppliers and delivered directly to the mosque.

Every supplier and product are carefully vetted to meet our 5alas sustainability and quality standards, ensuring that what’s given is not only helpful — but also dignified, appropriate, and responsibly sourced. This approach supports both local communities and local businesses, creating a ripple effect of impact with every donation.
